Mahindra has launched the updated Thar OG in India, bringing major mechanical changes, new features and a revised variant lineup to the popular three-door lifestyle SUV.
Priced from Rs 10.32 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh, the Thar OG is available in three variants: AXT, LXT and ZXT. The introductory prices are applicable for deliveries until November 30, 2026.
Thar OG AXT: The Entry-Level Version
The AXT is the base variant and is priced at Rs 10.32 lakh. It is offered only with the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
The variant gets basic equipment such as 16-inch steel wheels, halogen headlamps, LED tail lamps, height-adjustable driver seat, rear AC vents, split-folding rear seats, power windows, passive keyless entry and push-button start.
However, the AXT does not get a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, alloy wheels or terrain modes.
Thar OG LXT: More Features And Engine Choices
The LXT is the middle variant and brings a significantly larger feature list.
It gets an optional 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and wired Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker audio system, cruise control, power-adjustable ORVMs, steering-mounted controls and a coloured MID.
The LXT is available with the 1.5-litre diesel, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines, with both RWD and 4WD configurations depending on the powertrain.
Four-wheel-drive versions also get Mud, Sand and Snow terrain modes.
Thar OG ZXT: The Fully Loaded Variant
The ZXT sits at the top of the range, with prices starting at Rs 13.99 lakh and going up to Rs 18.99 lakh.
It adds 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED headlamps, C-shaped LED DRLs, LED fog lamps with cornering function and a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel.
Inside, buyers get leatherette upholstery and a wireless phone charger.
The ZXT also gets additional safety equipment including six airbags, front parking sensors and all-four disc brakes.
More Powerful Engines
The Thar OG brings more power from its larger engines.
The 2.2-litre diesel now produces 152 PS and 330 Nm, compared with 132 PS and 300 Nm previously.
The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine develops 162 PS and 330 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel continues with 119 PS and 300 Nm.
The SUV also gets electric power steering, a revised chassis and suspension setup.
Off-Roading Gets An Upgrade
The 4WD versions of the LXT and ZXT receive an electronic locking differential and three terrain modes.
Mahindra has also introduced its new M_Glyde 4G platform, revised suspension technology and wider track as part of the mechanical update.
These changes are intended to improve both off-road capability and everyday driving comfort.
Which Thar OG Gets What?
The AXT is aimed at buyers who want the basic Thar experience and may prefer to customise the SUV themselves.
The LXT adds most of the important everyday features and a wider choice of engines and drivetrains.
The ZXT gets the most comprehensive equipment package, including upgraded lighting, larger wheels and additional safety features.
