JSW Motors is preparing to enter India’s passenger vehicle market with its first SUV, scheduled to debut on December 4, 2026. The upcoming model is expected to be based on the Jetour T2 from Chinese automaker Chery and will mark the JSW Group’s entry into the market as an independent automotive brand.

The SUV is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain, rugged styling and a technology-focused cabin. While the name Combat has emerged in multiple reports, JSW Motors has yet to officially confirm the final model name and specifications.

JSW Combat: A Rugged SUV Based on the Jetour T2

The upcoming SUV is expected to retain much of the Jetour T2’s boxy design, with an upright front profile, chunky body cladding and large alloy wheels. Spy images of test vehicles in India suggest that the model could receive revised headlights and bumpers to distinguish it from its international counterpart.

The five-seater is expected to feature a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate, giving it a traditional off-road-inspired appearance. However, its final design and equipment will be confirmed at the official unveiling.

Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain Could Deliver 360 PS

The India-spec SUV is expected to use a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, an 18.4kWh battery pack and two electric motors.

The international powertrain configuration produces a combined output of approximately 360 PS and 610 Nm of torque. It is expected to be paired with a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.

The SUV could offer an electric-only range of around 90 km under the NEDC testing cycle. With a fully charged battery and a full fuel tank, the claimed combined driving range could reach approximately 1,100 km.

These figures are based on expected specifications and should not be treated as confirmed Indian-market figures.

Premium Cabin and Advanced Technology

The SUV could feature a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a premium multi-speaker audio system.

Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats and powered seat adjustments. Safety equipment could include six airbags, a 540-degree camera system and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The final feature list will be announced closer to the debut.

Expected Price and Manufacturing Plans

The SUV is expected to compete in India’s premium SUV segment, although its official price has not been announced. Industry estimates vary, making it too early to establish a reliable final price range.

The model is expected to be assembled at JSW Motors’ manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The company is also expected to establish its own retail and customer experience network.

A New Chapter for JSW in the Indian Auto Market

JSW Motors is separate from JSW MG Motor India, the joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC Motor. Its first SUV will establish the foundation for a new vehicle brand, with future models expected to expand the company’s portfolio.

The December 4 debut should reveal more about its product strategy, pricing, technology and plans for Indian customers.

Summary

JSW Motors will unveil its first SUV in India on December 4, 2026. Expected to be called Combat, the five-seater is based on the Chery Jetour T2 and could feature a plug-in hybrid system producing around 360 PS, an electric-only range of 90 km and a combined range of up to 1,100 km. Official pricing and final specifications remain unconfirmed.
