Reliance Jio customers are using more mobile data than ever before, with average monthly data consumption reaching 43.7GB per subscriber during the April-June quarter of FY27. The latest figures highlight the rapid growth of digital consumption in India, driven by widespread 5G adoption, high-definition video streaming, online gaming and cloud-based applications.

The company also reported strong growth across its subscriber base, broadband business and overall network traffic.
Average Data Usage Reaches a New High
Jio said each subscriber consumed an average of 43.7GB of mobile data every month during the quarter ended June 30, 2026. This marks a notable increase over the previous year, reflecting the growing demand for high-speed mobile internet.
The surge in usage comes as more consumers rely on smartphones for entertainment, education, remote work and AI-powered digital services.
5G Subscriber Base Continues to Expand
The telecom operator’s 5G network continues to witness rapid adoption, with its 5G subscriber base reaching approximately 285 million users.
Jio noted that data consumption on its 5G network is now significantly higher than on its 4G network, underlining the growing preference for faster connectivity and data-intensive applications.
Subscriber Base and Network Traffic Grow Strongly
Jio added millions of new subscribers during the quarter, taking its total customer base to more than 533 million users.
At the same time, total network data traffic rose sharply compared to the previous year, indicating sustained growth in digital engagement across both mobile and broadband services. Voice traffic remained relatively stable, showing that data continues to be the primary driver of network usage.
Broadband Business Maintains Momentum
The company’s fixed broadband business also continued its strong growth trajectory. Jio’s broadband subscriber base expanded significantly over the past year, supported by increasing adoption of JioAirFiber and fibre broadband services across urban and semi-urban markets.
The expansion reflects rising demand for high-speed home internet as households increasingly consume streaming content, online education and smart home services.
Digital Consumption Continues to Rise
The latest figures demonstrate how India’s digital ecosystem continues to evolve, with affordable data plans, expanding 5G coverage and growing smartphone adoption driving record levels of internet usage.
As AI applications, cloud services and high-resolution video become more common, telecom operators are expected to witness further growth in mobile data consumption over the coming years.
