Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup could deliver one of the most significant battery upgrades in recent years, according to a fresh leak. While Apple has traditionally relied on software optimisation and efficient chipsets to maximise battery life, the latest reports suggest the company may also be substantially increasing battery capacity in its next-generation flagship devices.

The leak has generated considerable excitement among Apple fans, especially as battery life remains one of the most important factors influencing smartphone purchasing decisions.

Larger Batteries Expected Across Pro Models

According to the latest information, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery capacity of 5,235mAh in markets that continue to support physical SIM cards. The eSIM-only version, expected to be sold in markets such as the United States, could reportedly house an even larger 5,425mAh battery.

If the leak proves accurate, both versions would represent a noticeable increase over the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The larger battery would make the iPhone 18 Pro Max the biggest-capacity iPhone battery ever introduced by Apple.

Improved Battery Life Beyond Capacity Gains

The expected battery improvements are not solely dependent on larger battery cells. Apple is also widely expected to introduce its new A20 Pro chipset, which is reportedly being built using a more advanced 2-nanometre manufacturing process. This could deliver significant gains in power efficiency while maintaining strong performance.

The combination of a larger battery and a more efficient processor could translate into noticeably longer real-world battery life, allowing users to spend more time gaming, streaming, browsing and using AI-powered features without needing frequent charging.

Competition From Android Remains Strong

Despite the reported upgrade, Apple may still trail some Android manufacturers in terms of raw battery capacity. Several flagship Android devices are already moving towards batteries exceeding 6,000mAh, while some Chinese brands are experimenting with capacities above 7,000mAh.

However, Apple has historically delivered strong battery performance through tight hardware and software integration rather than simply increasing battery size. Industry analysts believe the company’s optimisation strategy could help the iPhone 18 Pro compete effectively despite having smaller batteries than some rivals.

Launch Expected in September

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026. Alongside battery improvements, leaks have pointed to camera enhancements, a smaller Dynamic Island, a redesigned internal layout and the new A20 Pro chip.

While Apple has not officially confirmed any specifications, the latest battery leak suggests that the company is placing a renewed emphasis on one of the most requested smartphone upgrades: longer battery life.

Summary

A fresh leak suggests Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature the largest battery ever seen in an iPhone, with capacities reaching up to 5,425mAh in some markets. Combined with the upcoming A20 Pro chip, the upgrade could deliver significantly improved battery life. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro series in September 2026 alongside several other hardware and performance enhancements.
