Meta’s Instagram has rolled out a novel feature that permits users to download Reels from public accounts. Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s Head, made the announcement on his broadcast channel, highlighting that users can now store Reels crafted by public accounts directly to their device’s camera roll. To employ this feature, users simply need to tap on the Share icon on a Reel and opt for the Download feature, enabling them to access the content in their gallery.
Empowering Users – Instagram’s Customizable Reel Downloads with Watermarked Recognition and User Control
The feature is elucidated in the titled segment “Customizable Reel Downloads: Watermarked Recognition and User Control on Instagram.” Mosseri emphasized that the downloaded Reel will carry a watermark showcasing the creator’s Instagram handle. Importantly, he clarified that this feature is discretionary, granting public accounts the autonomy to deactivate the download capability for their Reels. Even if a Reel isn’t eligible for offline viewing, users can still save it for in-app perusal.
Global Rollout and Exclusive Sharing: Instagram’s New Features Empower Users in Selective Content Sharing with ‘Close Friends’
This functionality, initially launched in the United States earlier in the year, has now commenced its global rollout as of November 23. In a recent development, Instagram has introduced yet another feature allowing users to exclusively share their posts with a handpicked group of ‘Close Friends.’
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, highlighted on his Instagram broadcast channel that this feature empowers users to share posts and Reels with a specifically chosen audience.
The subsequent section, titled “Selective Sharing on Instagram: Introducing the ‘Close Friends’ Audience Option,” describes how users, when sharing a new post on the Instagram feed, will discover an ‘Audience’ option. By selecting this, a pop-up window prompts users to decide if they wish to share it with their ‘close friend’ list, offering the flexibility to modify the list. Followers on the Close Friend list are then privy to each other’s usernames when engaging with a post or Reel with restricted access.
