Infosys Fires 600 Employees Because They Failed To Clear A Test For Freshers

Infosys Firing Hundreds Of Freshers

It appears that Infosys has sacked hundreds of fresher employees after they failed to clear the internal fresher assessment (FA) test.

Further the report states that in the last few months, the company terminated 600 employees in total.

The IT giant has let go of 280 freshers that could not clear the FA test earlier last month.

Similarly, during the first week of this month, of 150 that were applying for the test, 90 were fired as they failed the test.

The company had fired close to 85 freshers in the earlier batch of July 2022, for the similar reason.

Interestingly, the employees who were laid off are telling a different story.

They claim that they were not fired because they failed an internal test.

On the other hand, the IT giant’s representative said that the company has always fired employees that did not clear the fresher assessment test.

The other fact that needs to be considered is that there are hundreds of freshers who were given an offer letter.

Although, they have been waiting since the last eight months for onboarding.

Now, these freshers are having a gap of close to one year and that too without any income.

IT Segment Layoffs

It seems that other IT companies are not much behind when it comes to lay offs.

The development comes weeks after another IT service company, Wipro, fired 452 employees for poor performance.

This is the official number declared by the organization.

But, there are media reports that indicate that close to 800 freshers were fired from the company.

The start of this year brought a lot of layoffs from technology companies.

A total of one lakh tech workers have been fired from companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Salesforce, In the last month alone.

Last month, Amazon fired 18,000 employees, followed by Google and Microsoft with 12,000 and 10,000 jobs, respectively.
