India Surges to 47th Place in Global Speed Test Index Due to 5G Advancements
According to the report, India has surged 72 places higher in the index, now ranking 47th, thanks to the introduction of 5G services in the country. India has surpassed neighboring countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, and also outperformed some G20 nations including Mexico (90th), Turkey (68th), the UK (62nd), Japan (58th), Brazil (50th), and South Africa (48th).
The report indicates that India’s download speed has increased by 3.59 times since the launch of 5G, with median download speeds reaching 50.21 Mbps in August 2023, up from 13.87 Mbps in September 2022. This significant improvement is what propelled India’s climb in the Speedtest Global Index, moving from 119th place to the 47th position.
5G Deployment Boosts Customer Satisfaction in India, as Nation Prepares for 6G
The deployment of 5G technology by operators like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel has not only brought faster speeds but also higher customer satisfaction, as indicated by the Net Promoter Score (NPS). 5G users in India consistently rate their network operators more positively compared to 4G users.
Furthermore, in his Independence Day speech this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the creation of a task force dedicated to advancing 6G services. He highlighted India’s remarkable achievement in rapidly deploying 5G technology across more than 700 districts and underscored the nation’s commitment to preparing for the next-generation 6G networks through the establishment of this task force.
