Hyundai Motor India has launched the 2026 Hyundai Bayon at an introductory starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s SUV lineup, the new model combines a distinctive exterior design, a technology-focused cabin, advanced driver assistance features and a familiar 1.5-litre petrol engine.

The Bayon also introduces Hyundai’s first generative AI voice assistant in India, making connected technology one of its key selling points. Here are five important things buyers should know about the newly launched SUV.
1. Distinctive Design and Compact SUV Dimensions
The Hyundai Bayon gets a modern exterior with a sculpted bonnet, a minimalist front grille and distinctive H-Edge LED daytime running lights. Dual LED projector headlamps sit below the DRLs, while black body cladding, geometric wheel arches and roof rails give the SUV a rugged appearance.
At the rear, the Bayon features connected-looking design elements, slim LED tail lamps, a sporty spoiler and a prominent BAYON badge. Buyers can choose from multiple colour options, including Fiery Red, Atlas White, Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Golden Bronze and Ecotronic Grey, along with selected matte and dual-tone finishes.
The SUV measures 4,245 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,605 mm in height, including roof rails. It has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and ground clearance of 205 mm.
2. Dual 12.3-Inch Displays and Generative AI Assistant
Technology is one of the biggest highlights of the new Hyundai Bayon. Its dashboard features two 12.3-inch displays, one for the digital instrument cluster and another for the infotainment system.
The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include a premium Bose sound system, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof.
The Bayon also introduces Hyundai Motor India’s first generative AI voice assistant, combining intelligence from Perplexity with voice AI powered by SoundHound AI. It is designed to understand natural conversational requests and help occupants with information such as weather, travel itineraries, hotels, restaurants and sports updates.
The SUV also offers more than 70 Hyundai Bluelink connected features and supports vehicle controller over-the-air updates.
3. Multiple Safety Features and Level 2 Pro ADAS
Hyundai has equipped the Bayon with an extensive range of active and passive safety technologies. Six airbags are standard across the lineup, alongside features such as electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The SUV also offers Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), featuring 23 driver assistance functions. Depending on the feature and variant, these include Highway Driving Assist, navigation-based smart cruise control, forward collision avoidance and lane-keeping assistance.
Additional equipment includes a surround-view monitor, blind-spot view monitor, parking sensors and an electronic parking brake.
Hyundai says the Bayon has been engineered for five-star Indian safety standards. This is a manufacturer-stated engineering target and should not be confused with an independently awarded crash-test rating.
4. 1.5-Litre Petrol Engine With Manual and Automatic Options
The 2026 Hyundai Bayon is powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated MPi petrol engine producing 115 PS of maximum power and 143.8 Nm of peak torque.
Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT). The automatic version gets additional driving technologies, including paddle shifters, three drive modes — Eco, Normal and Sport — and Dash Boost Mode for improved responsiveness during overtaking.
Hyundai has also confirmed plans to introduce a CNG version in January 2027, giving buyers another option for managing running costs. Detailed specifications and pricing for the CNG variant have yet to be announced.
5. Hyundai Bayon Price, Variants and Rivals
The Hyundai Bayon has been launched at an introductory starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The lineup includes multiple variants, ranging from the entry-level HX2 to the higher-specification HX10 family, although transmission availability varies by trim.
The Bayon will compete for buyers considering SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
Its combination of connected technology, driver assistance systems and a petrol engine could appeal to buyers looking for a feature-rich SUV. However, the final buying decision will depend on variant pricing, real-world fuel efficiency, rear-seat comfort and ownership costs.
Should You Consider the 2026 Hyundai Bayon?
The new Hyundai Bayon brings together a modern design, a technology-rich cabin and a familiar petrol powertrain. Its generative AI voice assistant and Level 2 Pro ADAS are among its standout features, while the planned CNG option could broaden its appeal.
With an introductory price starting at ₹9.99 lakh, the Bayon adds another choice to India’s competitive SUV market. Prospective buyers should compare variant-wise equipment and on-road prices before deciding which version offers the best value.
