Google has rolled out a new initiative for Pixel 6a users facing battery and overheating concerns. Named the Battery Performance Programme, this plan includes two main options for affected users – a free battery replacement or compensation in the form of either cash or Google Store credit. The move comes after widespread complaints about the Pixel 6a overheating during regular use.

Choose Between Free Service or Cash/Store Credit
Users who qualify can visit Google’s official page to check their eligibility. If their Pixel 6a device is affected, they can choose a free battery replacement from authorised centres or opt for compensation. Google is offering 100 dollars in cash or 150 dollars as Google Store credit. This allows users to put the credit toward the purchase of a newer Pixel device or accessory.

Android 16 Update to Improve Performance
To further improve battery efficiency and reduce the risk of overheating, Google will push a mandatory Android 16 update to all Pixel 6a devices. This software patch is designed to optimise battery usage and offer better heat management, especially for users who continue to use the phone after service.

Easy Eligibility Check and Secure Payments
To check eligibility, users need to enter their IMEI number and email address on a dedicated Google page. If someone is assisting a family member, they can use a different email for the process. Google may ask for more details during verification. For those opting for cash, Google is partnering with Payoneer to handle payments. Users in certain countries may need to submit personal identification as per local regulations.

Final Thoughts
This comprehensive programme from Google highlights its commitment to customer satisfaction and device safety. Whether a user wants to continue using their Pixel 6a or upgrade to a new phone, Google is giving them the flexibility and support needed. The combination of hardware service and a mandatory software update reflects a proactive approach in addressing performance concerns while building trust among its user base.
