Fast Track Immigration In Seconds Across 20 More Airports Soon

Completing Immigration Facility In Few Seconds

Very soon, the long immigration lines are going to be a thing of the past!

The Ministry of Home Affairs seems to be all set to introduce a special programme to fast-track the immigration process at 20 airports across the country, reportedly.

The Indian government seems to have decided to introduce a fast-track immigration programme which will operate at 20 airports across the country.

Further, they claim that the latest initiative will cut down the time taken to complete the immigration process from a minimum of 30 minutes to just a few seconds.

Yess, you heard right! Interestingly, this system is already working successfully at Delhi’s IGI Airport and they are soon planning to make it available at various airports in the country.

New Fast-Track Immigration Clearance Programme At 20 Indian Airports

The pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders will be able to complete the immigration process in a matter of seconds, as per the Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP).

If we consider the current scenario, it takes a minimum of 30 minutes in order to complete the immigration process.

Earlier, this programme was launched at the Delhi Airport on June 22, as per the report.

After witnessing its successful operations, the ministry has decided to expand this programme to 20 other airports.

They have already started this princess with the commencement of the installation of this new system in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad airports.

Basically this newly launched fast-track immigration programme uses automated e-gates which allows the  flyers to use biometrics to have a seamless experience for immigration, both during departure and arrival.

This also helps in bypassing the standard immigration queues and also completes the long process in a matter of seconds!

How Does This New Immigration Clearance Service Work?

According to the officials, this Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme will help facilitate faster, smoother and more secure immigration clearance at Indian airports.

More than 18,400 Indian passports and OCI card holders have registered for FTI-TTP to ensure seamless immigration so far, as per the report.

Coming to operations, this new programme is being implemented through an online portal and the Bureau of Immigration is the nodal agency for it.

Once all the necessary verification is done, the passengers will be added to a White List of ‘Trusted Travelers’ that will manage e-gate access.

Please note here that the biometrics of these travelers will be captured at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office office or airports.

As soon as  the registered flier reaches the e-gates, they simply have to scan the boarding pass and passport, and provide the biometrics for authentication.

After establishing their identity, the e-gate will automatically open and immigration clearance will be deemed to have been granted.

How To Apply For Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme?

1. First of all, the immigrants will have to visit the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme website here.

2. There they will have to submit the required details for verification by the Bureau of Immigration.

3. After this they need to get the approval, once it is done , the user will be prompted to schedule an appointment to provide biometrics at international airports or the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office.

It is noteworthy here that the FTI registration is valid for a maximum of five years.

Once this system becomes successfully operational, foreigners will also be able to apply for this programme.
