[Exclusive Interview] This Ed-Tech Startup Focusses On Non-Engineering, Non-Medical Courses | 50 Lakh Registrations Done!

Recently, we interacted with Mr. Gaurav Goel, Co-founder and CEO, Toprankers – India’s largest super career platform which envisions building awareness and increasing the success rate for lucrative career options after the 12th.

1. Overview of the Toprankers journey and its Growth 

Toprankers Ed Tech Solutions is India’s most prominent digital learning platform for non-conventional career options to help students prepare for competitive and college entrance tests focused on careers in law, architecture, design, commerce, humanities or management. The platform offers top-notch education delivery and round-the-clock assistance from highly proficient faculty.

Since its inception in 2016, Toprankers has carved a new paradigm in the Edtech industry in India. Boasting renowned brands like LegalEdge, Supergrads, Judiciary Gold, Creative Edge, and Legaledge, the platform has grown into India’s largest super career platform for unconventional career options.  Toprankers has successfully prepared over 3 lakh students for modern career choices and registered over 5 million registered users on the platform to date.

2. Who are the other key stakeholders in the company?

In addition to me, there are two more senior executives: Mr Harsh Gagrani, Chief Academic Officer at Toprankers and Mr Karan Mehta, Chief Product Officer. 

Mr Harsh oversees the strategies to shape the careers of thousands of students with immaculate decision-making and ensuring smooth deliverables for the entire Academic division. He has trained 50,000+ students (and counting) with a passion for education, preparing them for the competitive CLAT (Common Law Admission Test).

Mr Karan defines product strategy, creates roadmaps for the product, leads its development activities, and puts the product and the business on a course to remain student-centric.

He has successfully trained 50000+ aspirants across various Entrances in Law, Management, Math, Statistics, Finance, Economics etc. 

3. Funding details, and investor details

Toprankers secured a noteworthy series A round of funding of $4 million in 2022 from the renowned  Venture Capital firm, ‘Sixth Sense Ventures’, which augmented our growth initiatives.

Courses offered: 

Toprankers serve students with various unconventional courses under its umbrella brands-:

• LegalEdge – CLAT UG and other Law Entrances: Most recognised and trusted brand for comprehensive law entrance preparation after the 12th. It gives learners complete exam preparation through pedagogical teaching, a competitive environment, study materials, free mock tests, etc. Producers of AIR 1, 2, 3 and more in these entrances. 
• LegalEdge After College-CLAT PG: The postgraduate preparation platform for law students seeking specialisation (LLM), further qualifications (UGC) or certification to practise law (AIBE) in India. 
• SuperGrads – IPMAT: Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test, commonly known as IPMAT, is an entrance test conducted by IIM Indore. This national-level examination is conducted for admission in the five-year integrated programs in the field of management. IPM coaching classes by SuperGrads help students attain excellent results by providing the right preparation tips and a vast amount of study materials.
• SuperGrads – NTA CUET: Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) is a national-level entrance exam for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs courses. Last year, Toprankers accomplished a remarkable feat, with more than 50 students securing a perfect 100 percentile in CUET 2022. Over 200 students excelled in Physics, English, Mathematics, Humanities, and Commerce exams.
• Creative Edge: It is one of India’s best NID, NIFT, UCEED, NATA, JEE, and B.Arch coaching centres for preparing for these competitive exams. Creative Edge by Toprankers has recently achieved top ranks, including AIR 3 and 14 in NID MDes prelims and a host of students achieving 98+ percentiles in JEE B. Arch. 
• Judiciary Gold: The leading brand which ensures end-to-end preparation for lower judiciary exams across India. Recently, students of Judiciary Gold by Toprankers bagged historical results in the Madhya Pradesh Civil Judge (MPCJ) 2023 exam. The deserving students of Judiciary Gold secured top ranks, including 2, 5, and 6, among others.

6) Geographical presence of the centres and future plans for expansion 

Toprankers has state-of-the-art centres in several major cities, including Bhopal, Bangalore, Indore, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Lucknow, Raipur and Delhi NCR, among others.

As learning is not limited to classes, we will be inclined to propel students with a 360-degree approach, career guidance, end-to-end assistance, and personalised learning experiences in the near future. To execute this, we will be counting on below – 

• Widen the presence of our Toprankers Classrooms across the country by offering hybrid education to transform the future of learning. 
• To provide students with a blended learning experience, we seek to expand our services into new markets.

• Expand our market base in the newly launched and highly popular CUET exam test prep. In our foundation year, we have prepared thousands of students for the CUET exam and will be scaling this to millions in future years. 
• This year, we’ll launch LegalEdge Law School and give a 360-degree service to students preparing for Law as a career, covering all aspects from UG to PG and Judiciary, and the final leg of preparing law students for their real-life careers with the LegalEdge law school.

With 300+ employees working nationwide, the female workforce forms 48% of our entire employee strength.
