In recent years, Indians’ interest in the EB-5 visa programme has increased, as highlighted by experts, as obtaining an H1B visa is quite tough.
Foreign investors can get permanent residency in the US through the EB-5 visa scheme. It provides a good alternative for those who might not be eligible for an H1B visa, albeit having its own set of qualifications and restrictions.

Demand for EB-5 Visas Increases Among Indians
The demand for EB-5 visas for Indian investors increased by 400% between 2016 and 2019, according to the U.S. Immigration Fund (USIF). Following the program’s absence during Covid, the number of applicants has nearly doubled since it was last in 2019.
Nicholas A. Mastroianni, III, President and Chief Marketing Officer of USIF stated that there are multiple reasons behind this demand for EB-5 visas.
First of all, it has gotten harder for Indians to qualify for the H1B programme, which permits highly qualified foreign workers to work in the United States. The H1B employees’ lives must be uprooted and moved back to their home country if they lose their jobs, and they are at the mercy of their employers.
Due to this unpredictability, Indians are now increasingly interested in the EB-5 programme since it provides a long-term fix.
No Discernible Pattern in the States that Indians Favour to Invest in
The fact that there is a sizable Indian community in the United States is another factor influencing the spike in interest from Indians. Many Indians who are currently present in the nation on H1B work visas or F1 student visas have the opportunity to become citizens through the EB-5 programme.
There is no discernible pattern in the states that Indians favour to invest in. Hyderabad has, however, made a significant amount of inquiries, and Delhi and Mumbai have long been important suppliers of customers for EB-5 businesses.
Thirdly, EB5 may be a preferable option when the wives of H1B workers are frequently unable to find employment in the United States.
In light of these uncertainties, the EB-5 programme offers an alluring substitute for anyone looking for a way to get permanent status in the US.
