Delhi-NCR is set to witness one of India’s largest urban transport and road infrastructure expansions, with mega expressways, tunnels, ring roads, and elevated corridors worth nearly ₹15 lakh crore expected to significantly reduce travel time across the region.

According to reports, multiple ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects are aimed at improving connectivity between Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and other NCR cities while reducing congestion on existing highways and urban roads.
Gurugram-Noida Travel To Become Faster
One of the biggest expected changes is the reduction in travel time between Gurugram and Noida through new expressway links and tunnel corridors.
The upcoming infrastructure network includes:
- Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
- Dwarka Expressway
- Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)
- Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
- Noida International Airport connectivity corridors
- Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway
- New tunnels and elevated road systems
Officials said these projects could significantly reduce dependency on central Delhi routes for inter-city movement within NCR.
Dwarka Expressway Nears Completion
The Dwarka Expressway is among the key projects expected to transform Gurugram connectivity. The nearly 29-km expressway connects Delhi and Gurugram while easing traffic pressure on NH-48.
Reports said most sections of the expressway are nearing operational readiness, with improved access planned toward IGI Airport, western Delhi, and emerging residential zones.
The corridor is also expected to support rapid real estate and commercial expansion in surrounding regions.
Urban Extension Road-II To Improve Freight Movement
The Urban Extension Road-II project is being developed as a major signal-free corridor linking NH-44, NH-48, and other highways around Delhi.
The expressway is expected to improve freight movement, reduce heavy vehicle congestion inside Delhi, and provide faster access between North, West, and South Delhi regions.
Officials said UER-II could become one of Delhi’s most important urban mobility corridors after completion.
New Tunnels And Ring Roads Planned
Reports also highlighted plans for underground tunnel systems, elevated roads, and ring road expansions aimed at reducing congestion in central Delhi and key NCR bottlenecks.
The government is reportedly exploring new tunnel corridors connecting South Delhi with Gurugram and other high-density urban routes to support faster traffic movement.
Additional ring road upgrades are also expected to improve movement around Delhi without requiring vehicles to pass through heavily crowded city centres.
Noida Airport Connectivity Under Focus
The upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar is expected to become another major driver of infrastructure growth across NCR.
Multiple expressways and rapid connectivity corridors are being planned to connect the airport with Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, and western Uttar Pradesh regions.
Industry observers said airport-linked infrastructure could accelerate logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, and real estate activity across the wider NCR belt.
NCR Infrastructure Expansion Accelerates
The broader infrastructure push forms part of India’s ongoing highway and urban mobility expansion programme focused on reducing travel time, supporting economic activity, and improving regional connectivity.
Several projects are expected to become operational between 2026 and 2028, potentially reshaping daily commuting patterns across NCR cities.
