A recent media report reveals the upgrades done in Delhi airport in order to provide hassle-free experiences to the travelers.
Check-InTime Reduced In Delhi Airport
With the implementation of these services, the passengers at the Delhi airport will now be able to tag their luggage themselves and print their boarding passes to complete the check-in process in less time.
When it comes to the Delhi airport, it is operated by a company Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the company informed about the launch of this self-service system in a statement on Tuesday.
With the implementation of the quick baggage ‘drop’ facility under this new system, the check-in process has reduced the time taken from one minute to just 30 seconds, according to the DIAL.
This upgrade holds a great significance as it will become the second airport in the world to do so.
The facility has already been implemented in Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport as it became the first airport in the country.
It is also the second airport in the world after Toronto, Canada to introduce such a solution.
Presently, the airport has installed about 50 Self-Service Bag Drop (SSBD) units for passengers at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, under this new implementation.
Further, these units are currently operating with three airlines including Air India, Indigo and Air India Express.
This system will reduce the time by 1 minute to 30 seconds as the traditional system, baggage drop takes about a minute.
How Does It Work?
While using this system, the passengers can go ahead of the check-in desk and print their boarding pass and collect their baggage tag at the Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) kiosk.
After reaching the baggage drop units, passengers have to scan their boarding pass or face the biometric cameras and place their bags on the conveyor belt, DIAL said.
Moving ahead, DIAL has introduced a quick drop solution feature in order to make the process more efficient.
Besides this, this process does not require any boarding pass or biometric verification as these details are already present on the baggage tag.
This whole process reduces the processing time from about a minute to 30 seconds.
“The Quick Drop solution not only speeds up the process but also ensures a seamless journey for our passengers,” said Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO, DIAL.
In order to follow this process, the passengers can collect their baggage tags from the CUSS kiosk at the airport and affix them on their luggage.
