Event details, preorders

The event will take place on October 4 in New York at 10:00am local time (7:30 pm IST).

It will also see the launch of the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Buds Pro.

Preorders for the smartphones will commence from October 5

It will exclusively be available on Flipkart, which has been the online retail partner for all Pixel launches.

Ahead of the event, we’ll take a look at what we know so far.

Color options

It will be offered in hazel, mint, obsidian, and rose colour options.

Pro will come in bay, mint, obsidian, and porcelain shades.

Display

Pixel 8 will come with a 6.17-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with 1,400nits peak brightness and 427 ppi.

Pixel 8 Pro may feature a 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz LTPO OLED display.

Camera

Pixel 8 could feature a 50-megapixel GN2 primary sensor, a 12-megapixel IMX386 ultra-wide sensor, and a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor.

The Pixel 8 Pro could get a 11-megapixel front camera.

At the back it may get three camera sensors, including a 50-megapixel OIS-enabled primary camera, a 64-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 49-megapixel telephoto.

It is expected to feature Night Sight video as well.

Processor

Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro are both likely to run on Android 14 and be powered by a Tensor G3 SoC.

Google is expected to introduce the next gen as an upgrade over the Tensor G2 SoC that powers the Pixel 7 series.

Battery

Pro 8 is expected to pack a 4,950mAh battery with 27W wired fast charging support.

The vanilla version could be backed by a 4,485mAh battery with 24W wired charging and 12W wireless charging support.

Charger will not be included.

Price leaks

Tipster Paras Guglani (@passionategeekz), in collaboration with TheTechOutlook, leaked the price details.

The Pixel 8 is said to be priced at EUR 874.25 (roughly Rs. 78,400) for the 128GB storage variant and EUR 949.30 (roughly Rs. 85,200) for the 256GB storage variant.

Meanwhile the Pixel 8 Pro could cost an eye watering EUR 1,235.72 (roughly Rs. 1,10,900) for the 128GB storage model and EUR 1,309.95 (roughly Rs. 1,17,500) for the 256GB storage model.

Reportedly, the 512GB storage variant will sell for EUR 1,461.24 (roughly Rs. 1,31,100).

India prices

However, do note that the Indian prices are usually a bit lower than in European markets.

The reason the figures are so high in Europe is due to its tax system, which is why the company usually introduces phones in India at the original set price.

Hence, the Pixel 8 is expected to be priced between Rs 60,000 to Rs 65,000.

Again, this is not the official pricing and just a prediction based on leaks and previous launches.
