Blinkit, known for instant delivery of groceries and other essentials, has introduced a 10-minute ambulance service in Gurgaon. CEO Albinder Dhinsa announced the initiative on Thursday, marking the company’s entry into emergency healthcare services.
Service Details
The new service starts with five ambulances in Gurgaon and aims to provide quick and reliable access to emergency care. Users can book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the Blinkit app.
Features of the Ambulance Service
- Staffing: Each ambulance is equipped with a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver.
- Equipment: The ambulances feature life-saving equipment, including:
- Oxygen cylinders
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Stretchers
- Monitors
- Suction machines
- Emergency medicines and injections
Affordable and Non-Profit Approach
CEO Albinder Dhinsa emphasized that the service is not profit-driven. The introductory cost is ₹2,000 (as per Indian Express) , with the goal of making emergency care accessible and affordable. Neonatal and ventilator care services are not currently supported.
Dhinsa stated:
“Profit is not a goal here. We will operate this service at an affordable cost for customers and invest in solving this critical problem for the long term. Our aim is to expand to all major cities over the next two years.”
Future Plans
Blinkit intends to scale the service to all major cities within two years. The company is focusing on careful implementation to ensure reliability and effectiveness in addressing urban healthcare challenges.
