A consumer survey by community platform Local Circles reveals that financial services firms Bajaj Finance and HDFC Group entities top the list of pesky callers, with 40% of over 12,000 people polled complaining of maximum unsolicited calls from Bajaj Finance.
HDFC Life Insurance and HDFC Bank took second and third spots at 15% and 12% respectively, followed by Kotak Mahindra Bank for 4% participants. The rampant spam calls highlight ineffective DND registrations.
60% Get Daily Pesky Calls Despite DND
The survey found 60% respondents continue facing nuisance of 3+ unwanted telemarketing calls every single day on average over the past year, exposing limitations of Do Not Disturb (DND) safeguards.
30% faced 1-2 spam calls daily. Butcember encouragingly, repeat calling instances have marginally declined from 66% in February 2023, indicating some positive impact of TRAI’s stricter regulations against pesky communication by registered entities.
But with 90% subscribers still battling spam calls despite DND enrollment, urgent reforms in user consent mechanisms and grievance redressal systems remain imperative, experts emphasized.
