Amrit Bharat 3.0: What Has Changed?
Introduced in 2023, the Amrit Bharat Express was conceived to provide a better long-distance travel experience at accessible fares. Earlier versions primarily featured Sleeper Class and General Class coaches, making them an alternative for passengers who wanted improved train services without paying AC fares.
Amrit Bharat 3.0 expands that approach by combining AC and non-AC accommodation in one trainset. The 22-coach configuration includes First AC, Second AC, Third AC, Sleeper Class and General Class coaches, along with a pantry car and other operational coaches.
This broader mix gives Indian Railways greater flexibility to serve passengers with different budgets on the same service.
A Fresh Look Inside the Coaches
The new images showcase coordinated interior colours, dark seating, lighter wall panels and an overall more contemporary finish. The design appears more restrained than the familiar interiors of conventional long-distance trains, with an emphasis on visual consistency and practical materials.
Railway officials have also highlighted improved interior detailing, lighting and passenger facilities as part of the new generation. The selected materials are intended to meet HL3 fire-safety standards, while the finishes are designed to withstand regular use and simplify maintenance.
