In a major competition to rivals in the e-commerce and online shopping space, the US-based tech giant Amazon has brought a new, revolutionary feature called ‘Inspire’, which will let customers choose from what products they want to buy on the platform through short-form video and photo feeds.
Yes, you read it correctly. The newly developed feature by Amazon aims at increasing the user engagement on its e-commerce platform by introducing short form videos and photo feeds posted by influencers, other Amazon users as well as brands.
These entities can come up with ideas and shop from the post the content on Amazon’s Inspire, where interested customers can straight away place the orders for items in the feeds.
The feature is similar to that of applications like Tik Tok and rivals. With the launch of Inspire, Amazon looks to divert customers from Tik Tok to its own shopping platform.
According to Amazon’s brief on Inspire, the feature will currently roll out only for a selected pool of customers in the US, and following some months from the ongoing one, the company will roll out the feature properly to the whole of US.
Earlier this year, Amazon was reported to be testing a shopping feed like that of Tik Tok’s, having its own navigation button at the bottom-end of the mobile application, stated a source report.
At present, the Inspire feature can be accessed on Amazon’s shopping app, as a light bulb icon on the bottom of the main navigation panel, where the icon is placed at the second position from the left.
To begin using the feature, customers of Amazon will have to open the Amazon Shopping app and click on the light bulb icon, where they will be directed to choose from more than 20 interest options, including makeup, skin care, gaming, hiking, plants, interior design, pets and more.
“Inspire is our new shopping experience that connects Amazon customers with shoppable content created by other customers, the latest influencers, and a wide range of brands. In just a few taps, customers can discover new products or get inspiration on what to buy, all tailored to their interests, and then shop for those items on Amazon,” said the director of Amazon Shopping, Oliver Messenger.
