Recently, there are talks about a video which claims that the return and replacement policy of E-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon has changed.

Amazon, Flipkart Stops Return & Replacement Policy? Here's The Truth You Should Know

Change In E-Commerce Return & Replacement Policy

Further, this video claims that the electronic devices like mobile phones, laptops, headphones, and earphones cannot be returned or replaced directly from these ecommerce platforms.

The video suggests the customers to direct their complaints to the nearest service center of the electronics brands of which purchased the products.

This has created quite a momentum on social media. So, this definitely calls for fact-checking which we are obliged to do in this article.

A simple way to verify these claims, let’s go through the return and replacement policies of the e-commerce platforms Flipkart and Amazon

Basically, these pages are there to help the customers, so that they can find out if a particular product can be replaced or returned on the product page.

Flipkart Return & Replacement Policy

This indicates that most of the electronic items can be replaced except for a few specific brands, such as Apple, Google, JBL, etc.

Notably, the customer should reach out to the brand-authorized service center for these brands.

In the worst case scenario, if the seller can’t provide the replacement then a refund will be issued.

Please note here that certain electronic items cannot be returned at all.

Amazon Return & Replacement Policy

According to Amazon’s return policy, only those products which are marked returnable on the product page can be returned within the return window.

Besides this, they also have a replacement policy on Electronics such as Mobiles, Computers, and TVs with a window period.

Similar to Flipkart, Amazon’s return policy for  products from Apple (Apple iPhone, AirPods, iPads, etc.), also asks the customer to contact Apple customer service.

Notably,  both the platforms have an ‘Open Box Inspection/Delivery’ policy (here and here).

According to this, a refund is provided in case of a damaged or incorrect product.

In simple words the claims made in the video regarding the return and replacement of electronic devices is not true as it can be done directly from both Flipkart and Amazon’s websites, with only a few brand-specific exceptions.
