The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) reported that more than six million cinema enthusiasts attended theaters on the second edition of National Cinema Day.

The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) is a trade association representing the interests of multiplex cinemas and theatres in India. It serves as a collective voice for multiplex operators in the country.

National Cinema Day involved the participation of over 4,000 screens on Friday, including major cinema chains like PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, Miraj, Citypride, Mukta A2, Movie Time, Wave, M2K, Moviemax, Rajhans, NY Cinemas, Delite, and others. Tickets were uniformly priced at ₹99 across all theaters.

MAI Celebrates Record-Breaking Turnout at Indian Multiplex Cinemas

According to the MAI, an estimated record-breaking six million moviegoers flocked to their local cinemas to celebrate National Cinema Day. Audiences of all age groups from every corner of the country contributed to an unprecedented demand for movie tickets. Throughout the day, cinema operators reported sold-out shows, making October 13, 2023, the second most attended day of the year.
