The instant messaging and voice-over-IP service provider WhatsApp is reportedly working on adding new features to its extensive range of accessibility and useful features provided to users.
In 2022, the platform introduced several useful features like the ability to message oneself on the chat screen, a Community tab as well as others. In 2023 too, the company looks forward to expanding its pool of features offered to users.
Some of these features as per reports include letting a person on a WhatsApp video call continue with the call while toggling between different applications, along with letting users upload their status on the platform having not just text notes or images and videos but also voice notes on it.
Here are some features that WhatsApp is known to be working on to introduce in 2023.
#1. The instant messaging platform will allow users to sync their multiple devices using a single profile, thereby encouraging access to data on every synced device having the same profile. This means that using this ‘companion mode’ or feature, users of the platform will be able to share the same account on Android as well as iOS devices.
#2. The Facebook-owned platform has announced that it is working on a new feature which will allow users to encrypt their desktop app with a PIN or password. Currently only phone users can encrypt their applications but soon desktop app users will also be able to do so for locking their data on computer/laptop.
#3. WhatsApp is also known to be working on a feature that will let users switch between different applications while on a WhatsApp video call, further expanding the company’s multitasking capabilities.
#4. Currently under beta testing, WhatsApp will soon roll out a new feature which will let users make use of voice notes on their status to update their contacts besides the ability to do so currently using pictures, text and videos.
#5. The platform will enable users to send messages on a read only once basis, which means that such messages will be vanished as soon as opened to help users further choose privacy and safeguard of desired messages and private text discussions while communicating sensitive information on the platform.
