Food delivery platform Zomato announced it will distribute bluetooth-enabled safety helmets to all its 300,000 plus riders in India as part of efforts focused on partner welfare. This comes among other moves like distributing high-visibility jackets earlier.
Zomato revealed at its ‘India’s Emergency Heroes’ event that over 250,000 wearable items were given to delivery partners in 2022-23 alongside rolling out reflective stripes on their night gear. It aims promoting self-protection skills for medical first-response through such initiatives.
Training on First-Aid and Insurance
Additionally, Zomato highlighted it has trained 10,000 riders in professional first-aid and CPR capabilities so far to assist during critical situations on the road. The company also provides all delivery partners Rs 10 lakh insurance coverage currently.
The event recognized 5 riders with Zomato Bravery Awards acknowledging those who have gone beyond duty to help people in times of crises putting self at risk. Focus on assisting vulnerable citizens reflects Zomato’s expanding vision for positive community impact.
CEO Underscores Safety Commitment
Food Delivery CEO Rakesh Ranjan reaffirmed “commitment towards welfare and safety” of delivery partners who play an indispensable role in their operations. Distributing bluetooth helmets responds to ground risks riders undertake daily while enabling emergency contactability.
