Indian Railways has cancelled dozens of train services to and from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on October 10, 2026, ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in central Delhi.

245 Trains Cancelled In Delhi Due To CJP Protests: Rajdhani, Tejas & More!

The cancellations affect passengers travelling on several mail and express trains, including premium services such as Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express. The Railways cited the likelihood of severe traffic congestion around the two stations during the protest period.

According to railway officials, 75 of the 165 mail and express trains scheduled to operate to and from the stations between 4 am and 2 pm have been cancelled.

Why Are Trains Being Cancelled?

The disruption comes as CJP plans to hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The protest centres on allegations of irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls. Opposition parties and protesters have demanded accountability over the removal of names from voter lists. The Election Commission and the BJP have denied allegations of manipulation.

Railway authorities have warned that road congestion around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations could make it difficult for passengers to reach trains on time.

Officials have also pointed to previous disruptions, when thousands of passengers reportedly missed their trains amid crowds and road blockades.

Rajdhani And Shatabdi Services Among Those Affected

Several prominent trains have been cancelled or affected by the disruption.

These include the 12301 Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and the 12313 Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, which were scheduled to depart on October 9.

Other affected services include the Kanpur-New Delhi Shatabdi Express and trains connecting Delhi with cities in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Passengers should check their individual train numbers and departure dates because the cancellations cover services originating from different stations and may include trains that were scheduled to reach Delhi on October 10.

What About Mumbai And Other Long-Distance Travellers?

The disruption extends beyond trains starting in Delhi. Some long-distance services originating in other states have also been cancelled because their scheduled arrivals would coincide with the affected period.

Passengers travelling to Delhi from Mumbai and other major cities should verify their train status before leaving for the station. A cancellation of an incoming service can also affect the return journey because the same coaches may be required for another scheduled departure.

Delhi Metro And Road Travel Also Affected

The rail disruption is part of a broader security and traffic response in central Delhi.

Authorities have announced the closure of nearly 60 Delhi Metro stations from Friday night until the situation normalises. Restrictions on movement and additional security arrangements could also affect taxis, buses and private vehicles.

Travellers heading to central Delhi should allow extra time and confirm which transport services are operating before beginning their journeys.

How Can Passengers Check Their Train Status?

Passengers should verify their train’s latest status through the official Indian Railways enquiry system, the NTES app or the IRCTC platform before travelling.

Those whose trains have been cancelled should check the applicable refund or rescheduling arrangements. They should avoid relying solely on older timetables or third-party travel listings.

Summary

Indian Railways has cancelled 75 of the 165 mail and express trains scheduled to operate to and from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10. The disruption comes ahead of a planned CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. Rajdhani, Shatabdi and other long-distance services are affected, while nearly 60 Metro stations have also been closed. Passengers should check their train status before travelling.
