During the first part of the holiday sales, Samsung led in volume sales with a 20% market share in the smartphone area.
During the 11-day sales period from September 26 to October 6, more over one million iPhones were sold.
Samsung Leads in Volume Sales With 20% Market Share
According to Tech Insights, Samsung lead smartphone sales during this time, with Apple coming in second.
The Galaxy M35, Galaxy S23, Galaxy A14, and Galaxy S23 FE were among the best-selling Samsung models.
Its expansion was aided by Samsung’s position as the primary sponsor of sales events on Flipkart and Amazon, as per the blog. The blog states, “Samsung was also the main sponsor for sales events on Flipkart and Amazon which also gave it an additional push. Samsung sales in unit terms grew 17 per cent YoY in 2024’s first wave compared to 2023’s first wave.”
When comparing the first wave of 2024 festive sales to the first wave of 2023, Samsung’s unit sales increased by 17% year over year.
During phase 1, 78% of all smartphone sales were made online, mostly because to internet events like Amazon’s Great Indian Festival and Flipkart’s Big Billion Days.
Navratri Boosts Sales
As the Navratri celebration got underway, offline sales began to increase.
Apple’s impressive sales of the iPhone 15, which sold over a million copies in just 11 days, propelled the company to second place with a 16% market share. The iPhone 15 outsold the iPhone 13, which was the second-best-selling iPhone model in terms of sales.
Among the top five vendors in terms of volume during the first phase of the festive season sales were Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Realme.
Because of the significance of the Shradh season, the North observed decreased offline sales, whilst states like West Bengal and Gujarat reported more sales in advance of Durga Puja.
Tech Insights estimated the sales performance throughout the holiday season using market data and inputs from merchants and e-commerce companies, “North region sales were less compared to other region sales due to the importance of Shradh in this region. Also, states like West Bengal and Gujrat experienced better sales compared to other regions given the preparation for the popular Durga Pooja festival in these states.”
