The Realme split from its parent company – Oppo to have a separate entity as a smartphone maker in July 2018 and indeed, it has made its own name over the years.
Fastest Growing Brand
Presently, it is one of the fastest-growing smartphone brands in the world.
So far, more than one million units have been sold just in April 2021 in its own home market of China.
Further, the smartphone brand has a plethora of models lined up for the future.
Interestingly, it has become the fastest smartphone company ever to export 100 million smartphones internally.
Surprisingly, this feat was achieved in a span of just 37 months.
Reportedly, Realme sold its 100 millionth smartphone just a couple of months ago.
Alongside China, it seems that the brand is gaining popularity in India as its key market.
Venturing In Other Disciplines
It won’t come as a surprise if the electronic heavyweights would venture into (or explore the possibilities of) other disciplines.
For instance, companies like Sony and Apple can be considered as the prime examples.
It seems that Realme might have something to say about it as the ‘Realme’ name has been trademarked under the ‘vehicles; apparatus for locomotion by land, air or water’ in India.
Earlier in late 2018, the trademark was filed by Realme Mobile Telecommunications (Shenzhen) Co Ltd.
Another Electric Two Wheeler Brand
As the rumor mills suggest, this name could be used for an electric two-wheeler brand.
Although, there is no official confirmation on this subject yet.
Considering the meteoric rise in the number of electric two-wheeler startup brands in recent years in India, Realme may show some interest in this segment in future.
It would be interesting to see how the smartphone brand approach will be in electric mobility if it decides to head that way.
Coming to this subject, Ola Electric’s first zero-emission scooter with some unconventional promises could be closely watched by others.
It may also open up the door for brands from other greener pastures!
