Indefinite Work From Home For 16,0000 Employees Of This Tech Company; But Salary Will Be ‘Adjusted’

LinkedIn has shifted its stance on remote working and will now allow the same for its employees.

The staff now have a choice between full-time remote work or a hybrid option/part-time in an office as they slowly resume operations.

U-Turn In Remote Work Policy

LinkedIn had said last October that it expects its employees to work at least 50% of the time in an office as soon as pandemic-prompted curbs lift.

This reversal in course will benefit the professional social networking site’s global workforce of more than 16,000 employees.

The firm said that it anticipates a significantly higher number of remote employees in comparison to the figures before the pandemic.

They also acknowledged that certain jobs would require employees to report to offices.

Stance On Employee Vaccination Requirement

LinkedIn has a more relaxed policy in place when it comes to whether its employees should be vaccinated.

Presently, there is no requirement that employees need to be inoculated in order to return to the office.

This is in contrast to Facebook and Google which have mandated workers to be vaccinated in response to a new surge in cases in the US.

LinkedIn will also adjust the pay of its employees who are changing locations based on their local markets.

It will reopen its global offices based on the pandemic situation in each location.

Debate Over Whether To Allow WFH Or Office Return

The tech industry was among the first to send its employees home when the contagion broke out last year.

But now they diverge in their expectations of where employees should work from and for what portion of the time.

For example, Apple will call its employees to the office 3 days a week from October.

Google will have 60% of its workforce return to the office in at least part-time capacity.

Whereas Zillow Group and Reddit Inc will permit most of their employees to work remotely.
