TCS’ New Rs 876 Crore Campus In Chennai Will Generate 35,000 Jobs; Construction Starts

One of the leading IT services providers of India, Tata Consultancy Services, is all set to expand its presence in Chennai. 

Reports have revealed that TCS will now be opening two new centres in Sipcot, Siruseri. These new centres will also come with 35000 job openings.

TCS To Set Up Two New IT Centres In Chennai; Will Invest Rs. 876 Crores

Sipcot, Siruseri is a suburb to the south of the IT corridor, where TCS plans to set up two new centres. 

The first phase, or Phase I of the centre was inaugurated by TCS  in May 2020 with an investment of Rs. 24 crores. This was followed by laying the foundation stone for the Phase II of Centre 1 at the Investment Conclave 2021 that was organised by the State government. The Phase II of the Centre 1 involves an investment of Rs. 876 crores. 

Reports have confirmed that the memorandum of understanding or MoU has been signed.  As per the release, a facilitation MoU for  Centre 2 (Phase III) with State-run Guidance an investment facilitator of the Industries Department, with an investment of ?900 crores at the Conclave organised.

TCS Promises 35000 New Jobs?

These two new centres will have the potential to create as many as 35000 jobs, as confirmed by the release by the State Government.

Recently, we reported to you that by the month of September this year, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the Country’s largest software company and one of the most profitable Indian companies is expecting that its 5 lakh employees shall return to the office this year, post-vaccination.

Commenting on the quarterly results of Q1FY22, the company’s chief of global human resources Milind Lakkad stated, “…In less than two months, over half a million associates and family members and over 70 percent of our associates have been vaccinated, and we are on track to vaccinate all TCSers and families by September.”

In FY21, TCS hired about 40,000 freshers and according to Lakkad, 2021 will see more numbers of hirings from Indian campuses.
