As per reports, the age-old process of switching between prepaid and postpaid connections is soon to be revised. 

Indian telecom subscribers can switch between paid connections with just an OTP.

What is the Current Process of Switching Between Postpaid and Prepaid Connections?

Currently, subscribers have to fill out an application form for switching to postpaid from prepaid.

The process also involves long hours at the outlet for taking, filling out, and submitting the form. 

The other process, that is, switching from prepaid to postpaid is also a lengthy and complicated one.

What Will Be The Revised Process?

However, the above headache will be turned down a notch in the upcoming process.

According to a CNBC-TV18 tweet dated August 25, the guidelines for the revised process will be released within two weeks. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) might unveil the new guidelines in the coming weeks.

The tweet suggests that the prepaid subscribers will be verified by an OTP and won’t need to fill the application form. After the verification of the OTP,  subscribers will have to upload the billing address on the respective telecom operator’s website. 

Currently, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are allowing users to switch from prepaid to postpaid by booking an online appointment. The representative will then come to your house to start the switching process.

No official update has been issued regarding new guidelines yet.
