WoW! Reliance Jio’s JioLink Wi-Fi Router Offers Unlimited 4G Internet at Just Rs. 2,500!

We had reported a while back that Reliance Jio would also start offering wired broadband services, JioFiber. Though there is no update on that, the company has revealed its plan to launch a 4G WiFi router, JioLink.

What’s Up For Offer With JioLink?

The JioLink device would also offer unlimited data for a period of 90 days just like Jio preview offer on LYF smartphones and select Samsung phones.

Those who wish to try this JioLink preview offer would also get complimentary access to Jio’s premium app suite including JioOnDemand, JioPlay, JioMags, JioBeats, JioDrive, JioSecurity, JioMoney, JioChat, and more.

As of now, you won’t be able make calls using a JioLink connection, but given the fact that Jio is also planning to launch VoWiFi service, you would soon be able to make voice calls too.

How JioLink Works?

The JioLink router setup would consists of an outdoor CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) installed at the roof/terrace of the customer. The CPE features a unidirectional antenna so it has to be in direct line of sight with a Jio base station. This would make sure that the device always receives good signal ensuring great internet speed. [Jio 4G Speedtest Review]

JioLink CPE device would also feature an RJ-45 port for sending signal to the indoor Wi-Fi router via an Ethernet cable (Cat-5 or Cat-6).

This is all the information that is available about JioLink, but it seems to work very similar to Tikona broadband.

If it is similar to Tikona’s Wi-Bro technology, then the Ethernet cable from the CPE would be plugged into a small box (signal amplifier probably) connected to the power supply. Another cable from this box is connected to the WAN port of a wireless router which then transmits the signal over Wi-Fi allowing all Wi-Fi capable devices to access the internet.

Can Non-4G Phones Access Internet Using JioLink?

Yes, they can.

Jio 4G currently supports 3 4G LTE Bands (#5, #3, #40) and being a true 4G network it doesn’t have 3G or 2G bands to fall back to. So if you own a device which doesn’t support either of these LTE bands then you wouldn’t be able to access Jio 4G through a Jio SIM. But using JioLink you would be able to access Jio 4G on any Wi-Fi capable device, even on the outdated WiFi-capable feature phones.

Pricing & Availability

JioLink device can be yours for just Rs. 2,500 including the setup and installation charges. It is worth mentioning that this is cheaper by at least Rs. 500 than most LYF smartphones while offering similar benefits indoors.

JioLink Preview offer would be available only across select cities across the country starting this week. Stay tuned for more updates.
