How Does ‘Hype’ Work?
To start with, this feature operates just like YouTube’s existing Like and Share features.
So, when a video is hyped by a viewer, it does not influence YouTube’s reach and discovery algorithms.
Instead, Youtube highlights this video in a new way.
For starters, the Hyped videos will appear in the ‘Explore’ section of YouTube.
Hence providing a separate spotlight from the usual trending section.
It is noteworthy here that only videos which are published within the last seven days will be eligible for hype majorly.
This condition is to make sure that the feature promotes fresh content on a regular break.
Who Is The Target audience?
As we know that the new feature has been designed to help new and smaller creators to get discovered by new audiences.
That is why Hype has been tested with a subset of YouTube Partner Program creators who have less than 500,000 subscribers while adhering to the community guidelines.
With this initiative, Youtube wants to focus on smaller channels as it aims at leveling the playing field.
The platform also plans to give emerging creators a better chance to grow their audience.
What About Availability?
When it comes to the availability, the Hype feature on YouTube is being tested in Brazil, Turkey and Taiwan, presently.
So far, the social media platform has not yet disclosed if the new feature will be a paid service in the future.
