WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will lock chats across linked devices. Currently, if you lock a chat on your phone, it does not lock on linked devices like computers or tablets. The new feature will automatically lock chats on all linked devices when you lock them on your main device.

WhatsApp lets users lock individual chats with a passcode or biometric lock like fingerprint or face recognition. This adds extra security and prevents other people from opening locked chats if they access your phone. However, this chat lock feature only works on the mobile device and not on linked devices.

The upcoming update will sync chat locks across mobile devices, computers, and tablets connected to your WhatsApp account. So if you lock a chat on your phone, it will automatically lock on your computer as well. You will need to enter the passcode to unlock chats across devices.

This new feature ensures your private WhatsApp conversations stay private even when accessing WhatsApp from other devices. It prevents unauthorized access to locked chats from linked devices.

The chat lock syncing feature was spotted in the latest WhatsApp for Android beta version by WABetaInfo. But it is still under development and not publicly available yet. It will likely roll out to users in a future update.

WhatsApp has been steadily releasing new features to improve the messaging experience. Recently, it launched communities, increased group sizes, added reactions, allowed linking desktop devices, and more. The chat lock sync adds another useful privacy and security capability.

In summary, the upcoming WhatsApp update will extend the chat lock feature across mobile devices, computers and tablets linked to your account. It automatically locks chats across your devices for consistent privacy. The feature is still in development but expected to launch soon.
