This is not the first time such incidents involving Ola’s electric scooters catching fire have made the news. Similar incidents have been reported previously, with a recent case in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, where a parked Ola Electric S1 Pro also caught fire, although the exact cause remains unknown.

Ola Electric Scooter Catches Fire Again

The vehicle in question was Ola Electric’s popular Ola S1 Pro, and the incident occurred near D.Y. Patil College in Pimpri Chinchwad. Despite the incident, the exact cause has not yet been determined.

In a 37-second video clip of the incident, a silver-colored Ola S1 Pro can be seen engulfed in smoke and flames. Firefighters can be observed in the video, using water and fire extinguishers to bring the situation under control.

The incident unfolded near the parking area of D.Y. Patil College in Pimpri Chinchwad, igniting at around 8:30 in the morning.

As soon as the news began to circulate on the internet, a video of the incident quickly went viral on various digital platforms.

Ola’s Official Response

Ola Electric has issued an official statement, attributing the incident to the use of after-market parts in the vehicle.

Ola’s official response on Twitter stated, “We have received a report of an incident with one of our scooters in Pune yesterday. The customer is safe and unharmed. Our investigation has revealed that aftermarket parts used in the scooter led to a short circuit which resulted in the incident. Our findings have further confirmed that the battery of the vehicle is intact and functional. At Ola, safety is the highest priority and we follow stringent vehicle safety & quality standards. We urge our customers to only use genuine spare parts and accessories for all service requirements and contact us online or through the nearest Ola Experience Centre for support.”

Reactions to the incident have been mixed, with some labeling the e-scooter as nothing more than a combination of plastic and metal, while others have urged the brand to conduct a thorough investigation and address the issue promptly.
