Like a white veil lifting to reveal a new star, Volkswagen teases the arrival of its Tayron SUV in India.

Volkswagen Tayron Teased for India: Three-Row Tiguan Arrives

The automaker confirmed the launch through a social media teaser, showing the vehicle shrouded in white, though the front and rear lighting signatures unmistakably identify it as the Tayron. The SUV is essentially a three-row version of the Tiguan, offering enhanced practicality. Spy shots have already captured the Tayron navigating Indian roads, surprisingly without any camouflage.

Internationally, the Tayron sits below the Touareg in Volkswagen’s lineup. In India, it will be introduced via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units, assembled at Volkswagen’s Aurangabad plant. Many design cues mirror the Tiguan R-Line, though the Tayron’s length has been extended by 231 mm to provide additional interior space. At the front, the SUV features sleek LED headlights, a black grille cover, and a mesh-designed air dam. The global variant comes with IQ.LIGHT HD Matrix headlights with Dynamic Light Assist, boasting 19,000 individually controlled LEDs per headlight, though it remains unclear if this technology will appear in India. The standard main beam LED headlights are connected by a single LED strip, with an illuminated VW badge at the centre emitting white light.

Power, Space, and Style Ready to Rival Segment Leaders

The Tayron spotted on Indian roads came with 19-inch alloy wheels and shared its rear bumper with the 5-seater model, though the rear lighting elements differ slightly. The rear badge lights up in red to match the taillights. Powering the Tayron is the 2.0 turbo petrol engine found in the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, producing 200 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In the Indian market, the Tayron will rival the Skoda Kodiaq, Citroen C5 Aircross, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian.

As the Tayron rolls onto Indian roads, it promises to blend space, style, and power, bridging practicality with performance in the SUV segment.

Summary

Volkswagen has confirmed the Indian launch of the Tayron SUV, a three-row, Tiguan-based model. Assembled in Aurangabad via CKD, it features extended length, LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a 2.0 turbo petrol engine producing 200 bhp. Competing with Kodiaq, Fortuner, and MG Gloster, the Tayron blends style, space, and performance for India’s SUV market.
