VinFast’s Grand Indian Debut in Surat

VinFast, the Vietnamese EV giant, has officially entered the Indian market with its first showroom in Surat, Gujarat. Located in Piplod, this 3,000-square-foot facility marks the beginning of the company’s aggressive expansion strategy. With 35 dealerships planned across 27 cities by the end of 2025, VinFast is set to make a bold impact in India’s fast-growing EV segment.

First Showroom Before Plant Ops Begin

Interestingly, VinFast has opened its first Indian showroom even before starting operations at its Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu. The facility will eventually assemble vehicles locally. Until then, the VF6 and VF7 will be launched as completely knocked down (CKD) units, helping the brand establish a foothold while infrastructure scales up.

VinFast VF6: Stylish Compact SUV Under ₹25 Lakh

The VF6 boasts a sleek, futuristic exterior with LED lighting and chrome accents, and comes in six color options including Urban Mint and Crimson Red. The cabin is sporty and premium, featuring soft-touch materials, a panoramic glass roof, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, head-up display, and heated/ventilated front seats.

Globally, the VF6 offers robust ADAS, multiple airbags, and a 360-degree camera. While India-specific specs are awaited, it is expected to be priced from ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom) and will take on rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and MG ZS EV.

VinFast VF7: Premium Power Meets Elegance

Positioned higher, the VF7 offers a more luxurious, dual-tone cabin with driver-centric design. Key features include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, 8-way powered driver seat, auto AC, and panoramic glass roof. Safety and tech highlights include Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, and electronic parking brake.

Global powertrain options include:

  • Eco FWD: 201 PS, 310 Nm, 9.5s (0-100 km/h)
  • Plus AWD: 204 PS, 310 Nm, 5.8s (0-100 km/h)

Expected to start at ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom), it will rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5, BYD Sealion 7, and BMW iX1.

What’s Next?

With sleek design, tech-forward interiors, and a clear expansion plan, VinFast is positioning itself as a serious EV contender in India. As more details emerge—especially around India-specific pricing and powertrains—buyers can expect more clarity closer to the 2025 launch.
