Triumph Launches New Triumph Scrambler 400X
Design
Firstly, concerning the design, the Scrambler 400X borrows its design cues from the Speed 400 model. Its aesthetic exudes a vintage charm, showcasing features like a circular headlight with a protective grill, a textured split seat, protective handle guards, and grips on the fuel tank. Differentiating it for off-road prowess, the Scrambler 400X stands slightly taller compared to its sibling for improved control. Despite its retro appeal, modern touches are apparent, prominently showcased by LED lighting throughout the design.
Features
In terms of features, the Triumph Scrambler 400X aligns with its road-focused counterpart by incorporating a commendable range of functionalities. The bike features extensive LED lighting, switchable ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire technology, a USB charging port, and a semi-digital instrument console. The display combines an analog speedometer with an LCD panel showcasing critical information such as gear position, fuel level, tripmeters, odometer, tachometer, and other essential readings.
Engine
The Scrambler 400X’s powerplant is a product of the Bajaj-Triumph collaboration, sharing its engine with the Speed 400 and the KTM 390 Duke. This 399cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine generates 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm of torque. It operates with a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a slip-and-assist clutch, enhancing the overall riding experience.
Hardware
Regarding hardware tailored for off-road capabilities, Triumph has outfitted the Scrambler 400X with distinct components. These include USD front forks and a monoshock, each offering 150mm of travel. The braking system is robust, incorporating a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc, mounted on a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, respectively.
Prices
Lastly, pricing positions the Scrambler 400X at an asking price of Rs. 2,62,996 (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it Rs. 30,000 more expensive than its counterpart, the Speed 400. This pricing places it as an attractive option in the market, offering an affordable entry into the realm of scramblers.
