Several new electric SUVs with claimed ranges exceeding 500 km will soon enter the Indian automotive market. These vehicles include:
1. Tata Punch EV, Curvv EV & Harrier EV:
Tata Motors has confirmed that the Punch EV, Curvv EV, and Harrier EV will offer a claimed driving range of over 500 km. The Punch EV is expected to be the first to launch, followed by the Curvv EV, which has been frequently spotted during testing. The Curvv will also be available in an internal combustion engine (IC) version, while the Harrier EV may arrive later next year.
2. Mahindra XUV.e8:
The Mahindra XUV.e8, part of the XUV.e range, will make its debut in December 2024. Sharing similarities with the XUV700, it may share interior features, but the e-SUV is expected to have more advanced technologies. Mahindra is also working on the BE.05 future EV.
3. Maruti Suzuki eVX & Its Toyota Sibling:
In late 2025, the production version of the Maruti Suzuki eVX may be unveiled before its market launch in early 2025. It will use Toyota’s 27PL platform and share a 60 kWh battery pack, providing a driving range of around 550 km. Both could be available with single- and dual-motor setups in global markets.
4. Kia EV9, Electric RV, Seltos EV:
Kia is developing an electric RV for India, which may also have an internal combustion engine version. The Kia EV9, a flagship seven-seater e-SUV, is scheduled for a 2025 launch with a range of 541 km in WLTP cycle. Additionally, a Seltos-based electric SUV is expected to compete with midsize e-SUVs like the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX, and others.
5. New-Gen Hyundai Kona EV & Creta EV:
Hyundai recently unveiled a more advanced global version of the Kona Electric. Due to its popularity, it may be launched in India with a range close to 500 km. The electrified Creta has also been spotted during testing and could be revealed in 2025.
