The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the renowned Tirupati Balaji Temple, has recorded its highest-ever single-day donation collection, receiving ₹96.98 crore in just one day. The extraordinary inflow of contributions came a day before the temple administration introduced a revised donor policy, prompting thousands of devotees to make donations under the existing rules.

The record collection highlights the immense faith of devotees and the significant role the temple continues to play as one of India’s most visited religious destinations.

Thousands of Devotees Made Last-Minute Contributions

According to temple authorities, nearly 2,500 devotees donated on July 15, creating an all-time record for a single day’s collection. Contributions ranged from ₹1 lakh to more than ₹1 crore, with many donors choosing to contribute before the revised policy came into effect.

The sudden rush was largely driven by devotees seeking to avail themselves of the benefits associated with the previous donor scheme before the new regulations became applicable.

What the New Donor Policy Changes

The revised donor policy significantly reduces the lifetime privileges that were previously available to new donors. Temple authorities said the objective is to ensure that donor benefits do not affect the pilgrimage experience of ordinary devotees.

However, the new policy applies only to donations made after its implementation. Those who had already donated under the earlier framework will continue to enjoy the benefits they were originally granted.

Ensuring Fair Access for Every Pilgrim

TTD officials said the policy has been redesigned to strike a balance between recognising generous donors and ensuring equal access for the millions of pilgrims visiting the temple every year.

Over time, special privileges linked to large donations, including accommodation and priority darshan, had raised concerns about their impact on crowd management and the experience of regular devotees. The revised framework aims to make the pilgrimage more equitable while improving the overall management of temple services.

Record Donations Reflect Unwavering Faith

The historic collection demonstrates the deep devotion that millions of people have towards Lord Venkateswara. Despite the changes in donor privileges, devotees continue to contribute generously towards the temple’s religious, charitable and social activities.

The funds collected by TTD are expected to support temple maintenance, infrastructure development, pilgrim facilities, educational institutions, healthcare initiatives and various welfare programmes run by the trust.

With the new donor policy now in force, temple authorities hope to create a more balanced system that preserves the interests of donors while ensuring a smoother and fairer experience for all devotees.

Summary

The Tirupati Balaji Temple recorded its highest-ever single-day donation collection of ₹96.98 crore as thousands of devotees contributed before a revised donor policy came into effect. The new rules reduce privileges for future donors while retaining benefits for existing contributors, with the aim of ensuring a fairer and more balanced pilgrimage experience for all devotees.
