Once again clinching the top spot, the country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is on the top of the bestselling charts due to its new 2024 Swift.
With its new Swift, the company managed to overtake the Tata Punch with its new Swift to become the best-selling car in India.
Surpassing Tata Punch’s 18,949 units and selling 19,393 units, Maruti Suzuki Swift hit the market in early May and posted stellar sales figures.
Maruti Swift vs. Tata Punch
With 17,547 units in March and 19,158 units in April, Tata Punch saw a slight decline to 18,949 units in the month of May.
This dip allowed some space for the newly launched Swift. As per the data, 19,393 units of Swift were dispatched. As per the figures, VXI variant was the most popular one.
Punch’s top spot can be attributed to its pricing for various models since its ICE version is priced between Rs 6.13 lakh and Rs 10.20 lakh.
On the same lines, for the EV drivetrain, Punch is priced between Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh. This makes the powertrain options diverse and helped the car to clinch the top spot in sales figures.
Other than Punch, there is no real competition from other models since the direct rivals to Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios only sold 5,328 units in May. Whereas, the Hyundai Exter sold 7,697 units.

On top of that, there are new features like a large touchscreen, sunroof, and premium sound system further enhance its value.
