Recently, the next-generation Ford Endeavour, known as the Everest internationally, was sighted near Chennai, marking its debut in India. The spotted variant, the Ford Everest Trend, serves as the entry-level model abroad.
India Launch Insights
The model spotted aligns with Ford’s recent design patent filing, hinting at an imminent launch. Plans suggest local assembly at Ford’s Chennai plant, with the possibility of importing units initially to expedite availability.
Despite being imported, competitive pricing against rivals like the Fortuner is anticipated. The new Endeavour boasts multiple diesel engine options, advanced safety features, and extensive tech, promising a robust contender in the SUV segment.
Ford Endeavour In India: Expectations
According to reports, Ford may reintroduce the Endeavour in India through the completely built unit (CBU) route, following their partial exit from the market. The exported model will feature a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine, capable of producing 211bhp and 500Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Despite being pricier than previous versions due to the CBU route, Ford aims to maintain a presence in India by introducing global models, starting with the Endeavour in 2022. Additionally, Ford plans to bring eight new models to India, including the Mustang GT and Mustang Mach-E, although higher prices are expected due to taxes on CBU vehicles.
