As per a latest report, which cites Vice Chairman Uday Shankar, JioHotstar, JioStar’s new over-the-top (OTT) platform, has surpassed 200 million paying subscribers.

The multilingual live streaming of IPL matches, which has drawn a sizable audience throughout India, is credited with the quick expansion.

JioStar’s New OTT Platform, Has Surpassed 200 Million Paying Subscribers

The platform declared reaching the 100 million subscriber milestone at the end of March 2025, describing it as a “groundbreaking achievement.”

“To get so many paying subscribers just from India in such a short time was pretty satisfying.” Uday Shankar said.

Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema merged to form JioHotstar, which debuted on February 14, 2025.

The platform had 50 million paying users when it launched, and in just two months, it added 150 million more, doubling its user base in March alone.

This quick growth has been largely fueled by its exclusive rights to cricket competitions like the IPL and ICC Champions Trophy.

With more users than Netflix and Amazon Prime Video combined, the platform is currently the third-largest streaming service globally.

In addition to direct subscriptions, bundled agreements with telecom companies like Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea account for a significant portion of its subscriber base.

A vast array of content is available on JioHotstar, including regional content, Indian TV series, Hollywood movies, international series, and original digital programming.

Advanced technology such as 4K streaming, multi-angle camera options, and AI-powered tools to improve the viewing experience are all included in its sports content.

Reliance Jio’s 90-Day Free JioHotstar Subscription in 4K and a 50-Day Free Trial of JioFiber or AirFiber.

We reported recently that Reliance Jio has introduced an exclusive offer to enhance the cricket-watching experience for its users. The telecom giant is offering a 90-day free JioHotstar subscription in 4K and a 50-day free trial of JioFiber or AirFiber. This limited-time offer is available for both new and existing users who recharge with plans of Rs 299 or more between March 17 and March 31, 2025.
