Tata Motors has officially resurrected the legendary Sierra nameplate after more than two decades, unveiling the 2025 Tata Sierra at an introductory ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings open on December 16, with deliveries beginning January 15. Positioned above the Tata Curvv, the new Sierra marks the brand’s boldest entry yet into the midsize SUV segment.

Built on Tata’s New ARGOS Architecture
The 2025 Sierra is underpinned by Tata’s advanced ARGOS platform (All-Terrain Ready, Omni-Energy and Geometry Scalable). This modular base supports multiple body styles and powertrains—including petrol, diesel, CNG and hybrid—although the current Sierra is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive (FWD).
Turbo-Petrol, Naturally Aspirated & Diesel Powertrains
The biggest highlight is the debut of Tata’s all-new 1.5-litre TGDI turbo-petrol engine, producing 160hp and 255Nm, paired with an AISIN 6-speed automatic.
The lineup also includes:
- 1.5-litre NA petrol (106hp/145Nm) with 6-speed MT or 7-speed DCT
- 1.5-litre diesel (118hp) with 6-speed MT (260Nm) or 6-speed AT (280Nm)
Future hybrid and CNG options may join later.
Retro-Inspired Design With Modern Elements
The new Sierra pays homage to the original 1991 model with:
- A boxy silhouette
- High-set bonnet
- Squared wheel arches
- Prominent B-pillar
- Blacked-out rear glass section mimicking the old curved panel
It features 17–19-inch alloy wheels, LED light bars, vertically stacked headlamps, flush door handles, gloss-black cladding and a powered tailgate. Dimensions include a length of 4,340 mm, wheelbase of 2,730 mm and a generous 622-litre boot.
Tech-Loaded Cabin With Three Screens
Inside, the Sierra offers a long list of premium features:
- 10.25-inch digital cluster
- 12.3-inch central touchscreen
- 12.3-inch passenger screen with wireless headphones
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- 12-speaker JBL system + dashboard soundbar
- Dolby Atmos, ambient lighting
- Dual-zone climate control
- Ventilated seats, powered driver seat
- Boss Mode for front passenger
- Panoramic sunroof
Rear passengers get sunshades, 65W Type-C charging, recline seats and AC vents.
Safety & ADAS
Standard safety features include 6 airbags, electronic parking brake, all-wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX, hill hold, ABS+EBD, 360° camera and Level 2+ ADAS with 22 features. A 5-star Bharat NCAP rating is expected.
Rivals in the Segment
The Tata Sierra competes with Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor and Citroën C3 Aircross, along with coupe-style rivals like the Tata Basalt.
Tata has revived a legend—and this time, it’s packed with technology, power, and premium appeal for the modern SUV buyer.
