Banks To Remain Closed On October 10 And 11

Customers planning to visit SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank or other bank branches next week should take note of the upcoming holidays. From October 5 to October 11, 2026, bank branches will remain closed on October 10 and October 11.

SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank To Remain Closed B/w Oct 5 & 11 On These Days

October 10 is the second Saturday of the month, when banks across India remain closed. October 11 is Sunday, which is a regular weekly holiday for banks.

Why Are Banks Closed On October 10?

The second Saturday is a mandatory bank holiday across the country. This means customers will not be able to access regular in-branch services at SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other scheduled banks on October 10.

In Bengaluru and Kolkata, October 10 also coincides with Mahalaya Amavasye, which is separately listed as a bank holiday in these cities.

Are Banks Open From October 5 To 9?

For most customers, bank branches are expected to remain operational from Monday, October 5, through Friday, October 9.

However, bank holidays in India are determined partly by location. Customers in cities with a separately notified regional holiday should check the holiday schedule applicable to their particular branch before making a visit.

This is particularly important during October because several festival-related holidays are scheduled later in the month.

Digital Banking Services Will Continue

The closure of physical branches does not mean that banking services will stop completely.

Customers can continue using UPI, internet banking and mobile banking for most digital transactions. ATMs are also expected to remain operational, allowing customers to withdraw cash and use other supported services.

RTGS services are also available around the clock, including on bank holidays, allowing customers to make eligible electronic fund transfers even when branches are shut.

October Has Several More Bank Holidays

The October calendar contains several additional regional and festival holidays.

Banks will remain closed in different cities on October 17, October 19, October 20 and October 21 for occasions including Maha Saptami, Dussehra, Durga Puja and Vijaya Dashami. October 24 will also be a nationwide fourth Saturday holiday.

Since these holidays vary between states and cities, customers should check the applicable schedule before visiting a branch.

Customers Should Plan Branch Visits

For people who need services that require physical branch visits, such as certain documentation, account-related requests or other in-person banking work, planning ahead can help avoid delays.

The upcoming October 10-11 weekend is particularly straightforward, with both days being regular bank holidays across India.

Summary

SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other banks will remain closed on October 10 and October 11, 2026. October 10 is the second Saturday, while October 11 is Sunday. Most branches will remain open from October 5 to 9, subject to local holidays. UPI, internet banking, mobile banking, ATMs and other digital services will generally continue operating during the branch closures.
