Samsung Debuts SD Express Card With 800MB/s Transfer Speeds
Samsung has introduced a cutting-edge 256GB microSD memory card that is the first in the industry to leverage the high-performance SD Express interface instead of dated UHS-I. This propels theoretical transfer speeds up to a blistering 800MB/s.
The new card boasting PCIe and NVMe interfaces promises speeds multiple times faster than UHS-I cards capped at 200MB/s, delivering performance rivaling internal SATA SSDs.
Advanced Thermal Safeguards for Durability
In tandem with the blistering speeds enabled by SD Express, Samsung has incorporated its proprietary Dynamic Thermal Guard (DTG) technology to mitigate overheating risks during sustained high workloads involving 4K video capture or gaming.
By dynamically controlling voltages as per temperature profiles, DTG enhances card durability and safe usage spanning diverse devices. However, the card’s capabilities require host gadgets to support SD Express natively.

Alongside the SD Express card, Samsung also revealed kickstarting mass production of 1TB microSD cards supporting conventional UHS-I standard in Q3 2023 to accelerate terabyte storage adoption across mobile and cameras.
