Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is setting its sights on creating the world’s largest AI data center. Planned for Jamnagar, India, the facility will boast a staggering capacity of 3 gigawatts, dwarfing Microsoft’s 600-megawatt data center in Virginia, currently the largest. Bloomberg estimates the project’s cost to range between $20 billion and $30 billion.

Reliance Will Build World's Largest AI Data Center In Gujarat By Spending Rs 2 Lakh Crore

Strategic Investment in AI Infrastructure
Reliance’s bold move aligns with the surging global demand for AI-powered applications. The data center will serve as a hub for advanced computing capabilities, crucial for industries like healthcare, finance, and technology. This project underscores Ambani’s vision of placing India at the forefront of the global AI revolution.

Sustainability as a Core Principle
The Jamnagar facility will be powered by renewable energy from a nearby green energy complex. This complex will generate solar, wind, and hydrogen power, aligning with Reliance’s commitment to sustainability. Such an approach ensures the data center reduces its carbon footprint while maintaining high operational efficiency.

Partnerships Driving Innovation
Nvidia, a global leader in AI hardware, is providing chips for the project. This partnership between Nvidia and Reliance, announced in October, highlights India’s emergence as a key player in AI innovation. The collaboration aims to build cutting-edge infrastructure for AI applications tailored to the country’s unique needs.

India’s Growing Role in AI Development
Reliance’s Jamnagar project comes amidst significant investments in AI infrastructure worldwide. In the United States, OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle recently committed up to $500 billion through their Stargate Project. Reliance’s initiative positions India as a global hub for AI, showcasing its potential to compete with the world’s leading tech nations.
