Pioneer in telecom technology Reliance Jio has launched its first Made in India smartglass called JioGlass.
It was displayed at the Jio stall during the India Mobile Congress event 2023.
What is it?
The smartwear is a mixed-reality headset, which means it combines both virtual and real world to offer a more immersive experience.
It makes use of a combination of both Augmented reality and Virtual reality to offer the best of both worlds.
The product has been developed by Tesseract- a mixed-reality company that develops AR and VR products and platforms.
The company was acquired by Reliance Industries in 2019.
Basic features
The lightweight smartglass features a 100-inch FHD micro-led 3D display, and Voice and Gaze interaction.
Dimensions include 174mm in length, 155mm in width, and 38mm in height when open with design intended to be compact and portable.
It weighs just 69 grams without the cable and visor, making it easy to carry and wear for extended periods.
Any device can be connected
A smartphone, laptop, gaming console, or any other gadget with a Type-C display output can be easily connected to the JioGlass AR smart glasses.
This will allow to screencast the content on a 100-inch virtual screen.
Smartphone as a multifunctional controller
Further, it lets one convert their smartphone into a multifunctional controller so that one can point, scroll, and select with ease, all at one’s fingertips.
JioGlass enables you to seamlessly integrate up to three virtual screens into your workflow.
It comes with features like Immersive Mode, AR Cast, Virtual Desktop Monitor, and Virtual PC.
Lens prescriptions integration
Further, the device comes with magnetic prescription frames compatible with lens prescriptions ranging from -1.5 to -5, which can be fitted for a personalised and comfortable viewing experience.
There is also an intuitive control system, with a trackpad that allows users to easily adjust volume by swiping left and control brightness by swiping right.
Performance features
The product ultimately is a cutting-edge mixed-reality device that seamlessly integrates with a wide range of devices, including Android and iOS powered systems.
Performance features include lightning-fast 5-second boot-up and 1-second resume times, ensuring a seamless user experience.
It is powered by a 4000mAh battery with a 4-hour runtime in 3D mode, offering extended periods of immersive content.

Price and availability of the device are unknown at the time.
Tesseract is running an Early Access Programme on its website for JioGlass Enterprise.
