Pune: India’s Rising IT Powerhouse
Pune has solidified its position as India’s third-largest software exporter, contributing ₹1,05,818 crore in 2023-24. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the city’s consistent growth in exports over the past five years, with Bengaluru and Hyderabad leading the sector. Pune’s IT journey began in the 1990s with the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi, driving regional development.

The city’s adoption of cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) has played a pivotal role in its IT sector prominence. This focus on innovation has helped Pune maintain its competitive edge in the industry.
Challenges in Hinjawadi
Despite its success, Hinjawadi, Pune’s IT hub, faces critical infrastructure issues, including traffic congestion and waste management. Industries Minister Uday Samant recently met with representatives of the Hinjawadi Industries Association to address 17 pressing concerns, such as alternative roads, flyovers, and solid waste management. Minister Samant pledged to escalate unresolved issues to the Chief Minister’s Office for further action.
