PMIS 2025 Expands Internship Opportunities Nationwide
PMIS 2025 offers a six-month classroom training followed by six months of field training across 25 sectors, including Oil & Natural Gas, Tourism & Hospitality, and Banking & Financial Services. Interns receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 and a one-time joining grant of ₹6,000. Eligible candidates must have completed Class 10, Intermediate, ITI, Diploma, or Degree education and belong to families with an annual income below ₹8 lakhs.
The program has rapidly grown, with participating companies rising from 280 in Round 1 to 327 in Round 2. Internships are now available across 735 districts in 36 states and union territories. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Karnataka have collectively contributed nearly 50,000 applications, reflecting strong enthusiasm among young professionals.
PM Internship Scheme Pilot Success and Future Enhancements for FY26
In the pilot phase launched in October 2024, 1.27 lakh internships were offered, attracting 6.21 lakh applicants. Among the 82,077 selected candidates, 28,141 joined training programs, with the highest participation from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Notably, many Class 10 pass-outs applied in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Telangana, while ITI-qualified candidates dominated Andhra Pradesh.
As part of a national mission to provide one crore internships in five years, the government plans to revamp the scheme for FY26. Improvements will focus on implementation efficiency, expanding sectoral reach, and enhancing financial incentives. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is reviewing policy tweaks to better align the program with industry demands and student expectations.
