OnePlus appears to be working on the successor to its popular Nord 4 smartphone. The upcoming OnePlus Nord 5 was recently listed on the TUV Rheinland certification platform, suggesting it may launch soon. Though the listing does not name the device outright, it includes the model number CPH2079—believed to be associated with the Nord 5.

Massive Battery and Fast Charging

One of the standout details from the certification is the massive 6,650mAh battery, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The device is also expected to support 80W fast charging, which would provide faster top-ups and longer endurance—a major selling point in the mid-range market.

Shared Hardware with OnePlus Ace 5V?

Rumors indicate that the Nord 5 might share much of its hardware and design language with the upcoming OnePlus Ace 5V, set to debut in China. This includes a flat OLED screen with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth scrolling and vibrant visuals.

Powerful Mid-Range Performance

Under the hood, the Nord 5 is expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e—a binned version of the Dimensity 9400. This would position the device as a powerful performer in the upper mid-range segment. Other leaked features include:

  • In-display fingerprint scanner
  • Infrared (IR) blaster
  • Dual stereo speakers

Camera Specs: Dual Sensors with OIS

On the imaging front, the Nord 5 is likely to sport a 50MP main camera with OIS, paired with an 8MP ultrawide sensor. A 16MP front camera is expected for selfies and video calls, aligning with the brand’s tradition of strong camera specs at competitive pricing.

BIS Listing Hints at Indian Launch

The timing of the TUV Rheinland listing closely follows the BIS certification of another OnePlus device, the Nord CE 5. This strongly suggests that OnePlus is planning to release multiple Nord series models in both India and global markets soon.

Final Thoughts

While OnePlus has not officially confirmed the Nord 5, the series of certifications and leaks point to an imminent launch. With upgrades in battery life, charging speed, and display quality, the OnePlus Nord 5 is shaping up to be a solid contender in the mid-range smartphone category.
