Social networking platform WhatsApp will be introducing the Chat lock feature in its web application and desktop application as well.

The web application and desktop app are missing some new features that are already launched on the mobile application, which has been quite usual for WhatsApp.

Non-Mobile Users Can Soon Lock Away Their Whatsapp Chats, Move To Locked Folder!

Read on to find out!

WhatsApp Web To Get Chat Lock Feature

WhatsApp Web and the desktop app currently lack certain features available on the mobile version, such as the Chat lock feature. In a positive turn, it has been reported that this sought-after feature will soon be added to WhatsApp Web.

For those unaware, the Chat Lock feature allows users to lock individual chats and hide them away.

As per WABetaInfo, “WhatsApp is now in the process of developing a new feature that will allow users to lock their chats on the web client in the future. Locked chats are anticipated to have a dedicated tab, providing an additional level of privacy and security to user conversations.”

As per WABetaInfo’s information, the latest update has given us an insight into the Chat Lock icon that will be present in the sidebar tab.

As per the Chat Lock icon spotted in the sidebar, locked chats will have a separate tab on the web client. This will allow users to access locked chats and add new chats to the locked folder.

Web Version’s Chat Lock To Come With Passcode

Reports suggest that the web version may come with an option to hide their locked chats tab with a secure passcode. This will probably use the passkey system introduced in WhatsApp to protect chats.

The Chat Lock feature on WhatsApp will enable users to lock individual chats. This will hide them from the main chat screen and will only be unlocked using a screen lock or passcode for access.

However, the feature is still being developed and its introduction on the web will probably coincide with a new design overhaul for WhatsApp Web. WhatsApp users who already use Chat Lock on the mobile app will probably find the upcoming addition of this feature to WhatsApp Web convenient. It will also help maintain privacy and security.

This feature will enable users to discuss sensitive topics or keep certain conversations private and have an additional layer of protection for individual chats.

We will keep you informed as we get any more updates!
